If you are serious about developing a career in the affiliate marketing industry, sooner or later you will have to define what success means to you. And then you will have to decide on the strategies that you will use to achieve your success.

For instance, if you decide that you would like to earn $60,000.00 in the coming year, try working backwards to clarify what you will have to do to achieve this. So, $60,000.00 divided by 12 is $5000.00 per month. And $5000.00 divided by 4 is $1250.00 per week. Now you can consider how much advertising you will have to invest in to make $1250.00 of sales per week.
In this example it is reasonably straight forward to see that to make $1250.00 per week in sales will require a well planned and funded marketing campaign. While it is true that you can derive a lot of exposure for your business with various methods that are free of cost, its probably also fair to say that you only get what you pay for. Please note that it may well be very possible to leverage the many free methods of marketing out there to achieve the figures mentioned above.

But its probably reasonable to say that if all of the free advertising methods out there worked perfectly, all businesses would be successful. In reality though, over 90% of businesses fail. In a recent survey by Entrepreneur Magazine, some interesting reasons for business failures were quoted as follows;

2.Lack of training
3.Lack of proven marketing / selling system.

So its reasonable to say that it will more than likely be a wise decision to set aside an amount of capitol to invest in strategically marketing your business. The good part about investing your money into advertising your business is that it can be claimed as an allowable deduction on your tax return.

But better still is that all of this strategically targeted marketing of your business will have the money tumbling into your bank account very quickly. You will see the results in your bottom line and it will set you apart from the amateurs and take your business operations to the next level.

Another sure fire way to obtain success in business is to find a mentor, an advisor or role model. You ideally need to find someone who is doing what you would like to be doing and copy them. Remember that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Additionally, there are many mentors and advisors out there who are more than happy to show you their secrets in exchange for your testimonial. Is it also fair and reasonable to ask that if these people are really the worthwhile role models that they claim to be, then the more successful you become, the better they look right?!
