(Here is a great article written by my friend Lynne Sherman. Thanks Lynne.)
AdSense is a great way to monetize your website. Lots of webmasters struggle hard to earn money through their sites. But then some of these webmasters receive hundreds of dollars a day from AdSense ads on their websites. Adding AdSense is a wonderful and effortless way to earn extra revenue.
If you do add AdSense to your sites, here are some tips to increase your revenue:
1. Concentrate on one format for your AdSense ad.
The majority of webmasters use the Large Rectangle (336X280). This format usually results in higher CTRs, or click-through rates. This format makes the ads look like normal web links, and people generally click these types of links.
2. Create a custom palette for your ads.
Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea is to make the AdSense ads look like part of the web pages. Again, This will result in more clicks from people visiting your site.
3. Put the AdSense ads at the top rather than at the bottom of your site.
You'll want to put them in the place where people can see them quickly and easily. Different locations make quite a difference in your earnings. Make sure your AdSense ads are easily seen by your visitors.
4. Focus on a specific topic.
AdSense for content relies on the content of your page. Visitors to your page are there to read about your topic, and will see relevant AdSense ads relating to your topic. As these ads fit the interests of your visitors, they will be more likely to click on the ads.
These tips will help improve your AdSense earnings. Keep testing to see which format works best for your site. AdSense is a wonderful way to increase your earnings from your website.
