In this article, I want to discuss some of the mistakes which I have made very recently in my marketing campaigns. Hopefully I can help other beginners in the affiliate marketing business from making these same mistakes.
The positives with this industry are that there are currently thousands of affiliate programs available to involve yourself in and it’s a fantastic way for the average person to make additional income by basing their online business in their own homes.
But if you are not doing so well and are not obtaining the results that you were expecting, you may wish to consider some of the following points in this article. Please have a close look at some of these examples which I have identified as being detrimental to my marketing success. Go ahead and make an honest comparison to yourself. Have you made, or are you making similar mistakes to me?
1. Are you setting up a business that you are proud of? If your business was located in the tangible world, would people walk into your premises and buy something from you? Or are you hiding behind the anonymity of the online world? You may well be in the online affiliate marketing business but your customers still need to know that you are there backing up your online presence.
2. Are you effectively conveying a sense of your own personality? Your prospective customers are likely to feel more comfortable doing business with you if they know who you are and what sort of personal values you have. So be honest and open. Try to share a part of yourself with your customers.
3. Are you enthusiastic about your business and your products? Your potential customers will be more impressed with your enthusiasm than with your expert knowledge. Ideally your sales material should contain parts of your own positive personal experience and basically read like a “testimonial”. Try to add your own enthusiastic human touch and how you have learned through your own experience.
4. Are you trying to help people or are you just trying to sell to them? You will have to contribute and give before you can receive. By offering help and advice you will gain the trust and respect of the people you are trying to sell too. In effect, you will be contributing to a better community in which people will be more likely to buy from you.
5. Are you building your own data base? Are you capturing the details including email addresses from the people that are visiting your site? If not, you are letting your greatest opportunity get away from you. The people who have already shown an interest in your site and your products by visiting should be followed up with a news letter or other relevant sales campaigns.
Addressing these five fundamental, but very important issues have helped me manage my business and should help you to kick start your business activities too. Good luck and keep doing your best!
